Fine Arts

Fine arts is a valued component of our educational program. MHCS has a Fine Arts Director who teaches music to grades JK-6.  Students are involved in both vocal music and an introduction to instrumental music. Primary students work with a variety of percussion instruments, while our third and fourth graders work with recorders, and our fifth and sixth graders use hand chimes.  The MHCS fine arts department proudly sponsors an after-school musical theater program that produces two musicals each year.  Students in grades 1-8 are invited to participate in these musicals.  Additionally, fifth and sixth grade students have extra-curricular opportunities including the Singing Saints, a contemporary worship team and performance group.  Junior high students have the opportunity to participate in the junior high worship team in addition to electives that include drawing, art essentials, theater arts, and digital animation. Further, private, extra-curricular Instrumental lessons in piano, violin, and guitar are available on campus for an additional fee.   MHCS piano students participate in a yearly piano festival hosted by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).

Student Connect

Mission Hills students stay connected all year round through various school functions. Below are a few of the fun activities that help our families build the kind of relationships that make Mission Hills Christian School a warm, caring community.

Buddy Family Program Our Buddy Family Program pairs new families with current families during the summer months so that students and parents have the opportunity to make connections long before school starts. Younger buddy families often get together for play dates while our older buddy families tend to meet at some of the planned activities such as beach days or bowling.

Back-to-School Our Back-to-School event is sponsored by MHCS PTP and is held the first week of school. This is one of the most anticipated events of the year. Water slides, snow cones, face painting, food, fellowship and entertainment all converge to create a fun family experience before school starts.

Summer Time Connection MHCS students and families stay connected over the summer with planned beach days, park days, bowling and other fun activities.

Early Childhood Popsicle Playdate All preschool, JK and Kindergarten families get to know one another while the little ones enjoy our playground along with ice cold summer treats.
