Milestone Field Trips

One of the highlights each year in a Mission Hills student’s life is what we like to call “Milestone Field Trips.”

4th Grade: Sacramento, CA

Fourth graders take a three-day tour bus trip to Sacramento where they visit the State Capitol, old governor’s mansion, railroad museum, Old Town Sacramento, the town of Coloma (Sutter’s Mill,) and Sutter’s Fort, among other sites.

5th Grade: Pilgrim Ship

Fifth grade students participate in an overnight field trip aboard the brig Pilgrim Ship. This trip gives students a simulated experience of being aboard an American merchant ship during the early 1800s. Students role-play desperate job-seekers from Salem, Massachusetts and recreate a one-year Mediterranean voyage aboard the brig Pilgrim.

6th Grade: Science Camp

Sixth grade students participate in our Science Camp program at Green Oaks Ranch in Vista. Students enjoy this four-day outdoor experience which is designed to open students’ eyes to God’s creation as well as guide students into a new or deeper relationship with God.

8th Grade – Washington DC/New York

Eighth grade students take a one-week trip to Washington, D.C., and New York to tour our nation’s capital. In addition to all the sights and sounds in the D.C. area, the trip also includes a visit to Gettysburg, a tour of Pennsylvania Amish country and a trip to New York City for a Broadway performance. Our trip is hosted by American Christian Tours and usually takes place in early May.
