MHCS AFTER SCHOOL SPORTS PROGRAM
MHCS is a member of the PAL (Parochial Athletic League)
whose major emphasis is on maintaining a Christian attitude of sportsmanship, honesty, respect, team work, and responsibility.
Participation is open to all 5th
||Co-ed Soccer, Volleyball, Track (Gr. 1-8)
||Co-ed Soccer, Softball, Track (Gr. 1-8)
Tryouts are held at the beginning of each season. Practices are held at the end of the school day during the season with one (or two games) played per week. League play determines seeding for playoff competition that leads to the championship for 7th
grade. Sportsmanship is emphasized throughout the league.
MHCS athletics provides an opportunity by which all the talents God has given students can be used and developed.
There is a student participation fee per sport that goes toward league fees, referees, equipment/fields, awards, uniforms, and stipends. Fundraising opportunities are necessary to offset the cost of the sports program.
Students who desire to try out for any sport in the MHCS Athletic Program must have a 2.0 GPA. During the season, athletes may be considered ineligible or be placed on probation based on one or more of the following:
ATHLETE OF THE YEAR
- Failure to maintain a 2.0 academic GPA
- More than one behavioral detention earned in a given quarter or sport season
- “F”s in any subject
MHCS honors one male/female student/athlete for excellence in athletics during the school year.
- 8th grader
- Minimum two sport participation
- 2.5 GPA
- Citizenship qualified
- Athletic skills exhibited in a team concept
- Motivational Leadership
- Exhibiting Christ-like values in a competitive environment
- Commitment to the team
